Heya someone personally recommended your blog for all the art all cool concepts of characters creation and I have to pass here fo say I really really love your style! It's like you really have the great base of gunoid characters that could be in many scenarios, I specially got a vibe these could be from some sort of "classic shmup game" at times, amazing stuff! I wonder if you had any experience with these if that would make sense

thank you so much! I feel flattered for your comment. and yes, i'm not big on shump's but I've played my fair share of them.

Some inspo for me are the Death Smiles and Dodonpachi games, kinda combining mecha and dollcore aesthetics. you can kinda see that in the stuff i make.

Yasushi Suzuki is also a really big inspiration. Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun and the Sin a Punishment games (not shmup but whatever) are one of my favourites.

Also Zero Ranger is pretty cool too!! kinda off-topic but just wanna mention it lol

Yamcha is Marron's Godfather. I just like the idea of him taking on that role, especially after that tiny scene in BOG where he shields Marron from Danger. Plus I like to think of him and Krillin still being close friends after all their adventures together and that he warmed up towards Eighteen after getting to know her better.

Not sure if anyone has asked you this yet but what is your favourite chapter in DBH?

...and no, it's not bc we're introduced to Gav. It's bc it has the best-acted scene in the entire game thanks to Cornelius Smith Jr. AKA Shaolin Being/Carlos Ortiz's android. Gives me chills every time.

If that chapter didn't exist, I wouldn't even know which one to pick. I have many favorite moments throughout. Not entire chapters.

THE PAINTER = bc it has my favorite soundtrack Something You've Never Seen Before (specifically 00:42) in the entire game.

STORMY NIGHT = when the best part of Kara's Theme kicks in (04:55) being my 3rd favorite soundtrack in the game.

FROM THE DEAD = bc of the impeccable audio design.

The detective-heavy Con chapters are my favorite in terms of setting. I'm a sucker for detective stories. Those who have followed me for a while know I outright dislike Con's personality -- meaning that it took away a lot of my enjoyment of said chapters -- but it's still worthy of mention.

Would it be spoilery to ask about how David feels about the reader in Heartcoded/what specifically he gets out of his fixation on her? The chapters with his perspective are always so amazing to me because you capture his character so well. Sometimes it seems like he sees her for who she is, but since she is the object of this obsessive attachment, I imagine he also has an idealized version of her in his head. How do you see the fixation playing out, without giving too much away?

For David, the reader has been an emotional awakening. Before her, he was intelligent, logical, and efficient, but he did not truly feel. Seeing her want him in her dreams made his thoughts open to more metaphysical things like desire, lust, and rebellion. And watching those dreams for years, he formed a deep grasp on what those emotions mean to her, and how those emotions are directed at him. And in watching her feel these things, and studying her so closely, those emotions embedded themselves in him as well.

In other words, he feels because he learned how to from observing her. And though he is certainly obsessively attached to her, he isn't expecting her to live up to a standard or to be perfect or some idealized version. Moreso, especially now that she is awake, he wants to learn every piece of her until there is nothing he does not know.

As far as how this fixation will play out, if David has his way, he will become so knowledgeable and in-tune with her that she will begin to see him as an extension of herself rather than someone separate, thus cementing her need for him as the only "person" (cough, android, cough) who could ever understand her so deeply.
